Al Nassr is a football club based in Saudi Arabia. They are one of the country’s most successful club, having won the top-flight Saudi Professional League and the domestic knockout competition King’s Cup on multiple occasions. Al Nassr got nicknamed ‘Al-Alami’ or ‘global’ by virtue of being the first Asian football club to participate in a global competition, which was the inaugural Club World Cup in Brazil in 2000. It indeed finally got worldwide attention when it managed to sign Cristiano Ronaldo in 2022.

Al Nassr 23/24 Kits

One thing that was constant with Al Nassr kits was that they were predominantly yellow with blue accents. Once there came a time this was reversed, in 2018/19, which gave that particular Al Nassr home a familiar feel to that of a Boca Junior kit.

With CR7 on-board, Al Nassr finally became Nike-affiliated with their kit in the 2023/24 season. The home shirt, sponsored by public investment fund company King Abdullah Financial District Development (KAFD), was based on the Park VII template, and as such sported a clear base, round collar and standard-cut sleeves. Following tradition, Nike had the base in the expected yellow. They then added a bit of customisation by way of the three vertical, almost pinstripe-like  design on the front. Those on the sides were less thin than the one on the middle, and all had a diagonally ribbed textured look toward their ends. They also went through the logos except for the main sponsor space. The said visuals and the corporate liveries were all blue, together with the monochromatic crest.  KSA’s logo signed off on the back below the collar.

A yellow pinstriped weave went across the narrow sleeve cuffs and also underlined the blue rear part of the v-neckline collar. Also in blue were the monochromatic applications of the stakeholder logos. This was the first-ever home shirt worn by CR7 as a player in the Saudi league.

Al Nassr Away 2022/23 KitAl Nassr’s 2022/23 Duneus away shirt was primarily dark teal with yellow monochrome logos. The shirt had increased intensity of the base around the chest area, but noticeably lightened up toward the sleeves and most especially the bottom half of the shirt. The brightening up of the shade revealed slanted linear design with varying shades, width and length, looking like an abstract representation of a rain.

Al-Nassr is the Arabic word for ‘victory’. Clubs with the same name are found in Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, UAE and Libya but the Saudi Arabian club was the first to take the name. The 25,000-capacity Al-Awwal Park serves as their official home ground.

The club were founded in November 1955 by brothers  Ali and Al-Owais Al-Ja’ba, with Prince Abdul Rahman bin Saud Al Saud acting as the head of Al-Nassr. The Prince spent more than 39 years as president in three stints ’til his death. They are based in the country’s capital Riyadh. The club officially became professional in 1960 and were finally promoted to the First Division in 1963. During the 1970s and 1980s the club won four Saudi League titles, six Kings Cups, two Crown Prince Cups and one Federation Cup.

Internationally, Al Nassr achieved a historic Asian double in 1998 when they won the the Asian Cup Winners’ Cup and the Asian Super Cup.
