The Ghana national football team is one of the most dominant in the CAF Confederation as they have won a total of four Africa Cup of Nations titles. The current roster features several big names including Kwadwo Asamoah, Sulley Muntari, Asamoah Gyan, Kevin-Prince Boateng, Christian Atsu, Emmanuel Frimpong and many more! The African side play their home games wearing an all white home kit with black trim which is supplied by Puma.
Ghana 23/24 Kits
The Ghanaians have stuck to a simple white design for their football team which is usually accompanied with black detailing. Having played in two World Cups prior to the 2014 tournament their home shirt has been super simple. The new Ghana home shirt for the 2014 World Cup reveals their trademark white appearance while a subtle feature includes a tribal pattern on the collar and shoulders symbolising Ghana culture. The same tribal pattern is also featured on the sleeve hems while black trim is included on the numbers and branding.
The tribal pattern featured on the collar of the 2014 home shirt is inspired by Kente cloth design which is a traditional form of art in Ghana. The Kente pattern features multi-colour designs consisting of different shapes forming an eye catching display. The new home shirt will be complemented with white shorts and socks. The 2014 Ghana away shirt is mostly red featuring an enlarged watermark of a tribal pattern on the front of the shirt. The shorts also feature the same pattern while the shirts, shorts and socks have yellow trim added.
With German brand Puma having made both kits so far there has been little variation with the plain white shirt, shorts and socks creating a vibrant and unique shirt design. Changes have been made to the trim but it is unlikely that Ghana will stray far from the basic look. Ghana have a red and yellow striped away shirt so there is little need for too much design to the home shirt.

In terms of away kits Ghana have mostly used red kits which is usually accompanied with yellow, gold, green or black trim. A memorable away shirt in 2010 to 2012 featured an all red display with green and yellow stripes on the front.

2022 Ghana Home Shirt
Ghana’s Puma home kit for the 2022 World Cup put its Black star identity to its core, placing the said symbol straight at the centre of the chest amidst a clean white base. The striped sleeve cuffs were patterned after the national flag colours. Ghana’s kit in its 3-2 win against Italy in 1996 provided a loose inspiration for the design and construction of the kit.
2021 Ghana Home Shirt
Ghana’s 2021 home shirt used black and white to produce a front and sleeve all-over pattern that reflected Ghanian arts and culture. Puma set up a faded finish to the body graphic to contrast with the clear and vivid display on the sleeves. The pointed neckline was left uncollared, while the neckband on the rear appeared in red.

2022 Ghana Away Shirt
One of the kits not to sport a white base, Ghana’s 2022 World Cup Puma alternate was predominantly red with a national flag colour striping on its sleeve cuffs. Its Puma themed design was yellow surrounded by a thinner green outline. The top side was broadened to carry out a red and green jagged striping (again reflecting the national colours). Completing the flag reference was the black star, which was flanked in turn by the GHANA branding in a local font and the GFA logo. A tonal wide stripe flowed down the middle of the shirt, reaching the collar and hemline end-to-end and going behind the personalised box number.
2021 Ghana Away Shirt
Ghana’s 2021 away shirt put depth to the graphic of the monochromatic home with its yellow and black colours. The former was for the primary visuals, while the latter served as the background and the sleeve colour. In addition, the smaller flag-like tail ends confined within the graphics design were green. The neckline remained red collared on the back but ended up as rounded on the front for this jersey.
Known at home as the Black Stars, Ghana have performed well on the world youth stage, they have won the U-17 title twice and come 2nd twice at the World Youth Championship. At full international level, they have won the African Nations Cup in 1963, 1965, 1978 & 1982, but it took until 2006 for them to qualify for their first World Cup Finals.
The Ghanaians played their first international match in 1950, beating Nigeria 1-0 in Accra, their biggest win came when putting twelve past Malawi without reply, whilst the Black Stars suffered their worst defeat to Brazil, losing 8-2 in March 1996.
The player to have pulled on the Ghana shirt on the most occasions is Abedi Pele (67 caps), he is also his country’s top goalscorer with 33 goals. Tony Yeboah, Michael Essien, Patrick Agyemang and Nii Lamptey are other famous Ghanaians to play for their country. Ghana play in a home shirt of white, with black shorts and socks, the away kit is all yellow.
Reaching the quarter-finals of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa the Ghana team will be looking to repeat that success. They are arguably in the hardest group of the tournament where they have to play Germany, Portugal and the United States.
The Black Stars have had several kit suppliers in their history including Puma, Umbro, Kappa and adidas. Throughout the history of Ghana football their white shirt has become one of the most recognised African kits on the globe.
